Hooray for Hollywood!

Well, I stayed up late last night to watch the Academy Awards.  I still can't believe my childhood dreams of being a movie star never panned out!  And although I missed being there in person by a few days I was actually in Hollywood just last Wednesday, only 4 days before the big award show, and I actually got to walk on the red carpet... ok, it was covered in plastic, but nonetheless, I got to walk on it!   Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, as an adult my ambitions have shifted somewhat, just recently I had three paintings accepted by the Round Rock Area Arts Council, and I am tickled pink!   I just dropped them off at the Williamson County Annex today and they should be hanging there through the end of June.  So I hope  you'll get a chance to drop by and take a look!

I'm Back!

Dancing Up a Storm
8 x 10 acrylic

Thank goodness, I think I've emerged from my slump!   I've been working on the above painting for the past couple of weeks and just never could seem to get her right.  But today, while the sun was shining bright and my hubby was out chopping down cedar trees, I esconced myself in my studio and the final version of Dancing Up a Storm came to life.

We Got Snow... and ice!

Waterfall on our Property
Photographer:  Chris Eckart

Well, the weather man got it exactly right this time!  The sleet/snow got off to a slow start around 9:00 last night.  We awoke to a light dusting of snow.  The above picture was taken at the waterfall at the bottom of hill.  I would like to take credit for the picture, but my husband, Chris, is the one who traipsed down there in the freezing cold to get the shot!

A Cold Wind Blows

Dream Dancers
16 x 20 Acrylic
On Display at St. Davids Hospital, Georgetown, Texas

Those of us who live in the beautiful State of Texas don't often experience extreme Arctic blasts like the one that has crippled the country this week.  In Central Texas today's high has been a 24 chilly degrees, and with the fierce wind blowing it feels even colder!  I know there are people and animals out there suffering because of it, and I truly feel terrible for them, but on the other hand my evil twin loves this kind of weather!  Snow's predicted for tomorrow and Friday and I've got my toes and fingers crossed!  I did have to venture out today to go over to St. David's Hospital in Georgetown to drop off a painting for the Guilds annual show, so I do know exactly how cold and miserable it is out there.    When I got home I put out extra food for the feral kitty cats that've been camping out in the garage and I gave them a brand new kitty bed and some warm blankies to snuggle up in.   I also gave them a nice new litter box so they don't have to go out into the freezing cold... I hope they know what to do with a litter box!  As for me, I plan on hibernating for the rest of the cold snap, and hope you stay warm and toasty too!
